What is Artificial Intelligence?
In this session, students explore the foundations of Artificial Intelligence (AI) — understanding how machines analyze data, identify patterns, and make predictions that mirror human decision-making.
How Image Recognition Works
Through exciting demonstrations, they’ll explore how AI can identify objects, gestures, and images, forming the foundation of technologies like facial recognition and computer vision.
Train Your Own AI Model
Using Google Teachable Machine, each child will collect data, train a simple AI, and test its predictions in real time — just like a real AI engineer!
Each student will build and train their own Artificial Intelligence (AI) model using Google’s Teachable Machine.
Through this project, they’ll teach the computer to recognize different human facial emotions — from smiles to frowns — and see how AI learns to interpret real-world expressions.
By the end of the AI holiday camp, students will:
Understand the core principles of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
Create a simple but working image-recognition model.
Gain confidence experimenting with AI tools safely.
Develop critical thinking and digital literacy — essential 21st-century skills.
At The Young Maker, our mission is to help every child discover the joy of creating.
Through our STEM and coding workshops, including 3D Printing for Kids, we empower young learners to explore the intersection of creativity and technology — building skills that will shape their future in an increasingly digital world.
If you’re looking for IMDA’s Digital for Life supported events, explore our Deepfakes and Digital Safety program — an eye-opening session designed to build AI literacy and digital safety awareness for kids. Students will discover how artificial intelligence can be used to manipulate images, videos, and information, gaining firsthand insight into the rise of deepfake technology and how such content spreads rapidly across social media platforms.
Through guided discussions and interactive demonstrations, participants will learn to think critically, evaluate online information, and understand the ethical implications of AI. The workshop also teaches essential AI literacy skills, including how to spot misinformation, protect personal privacy, and build responsible digital habits.
